Questions and Facts
- Does it hurt- Most of the time, no it does not hurt. Everyone's pain tolerance is
different and I adjust to each individual I work on. Some time you will find areas to be
tender. Most of the places that are tender, people explain it as a "good hurt" like it
needs to be worked on.
- Can you diagnose- Most defiantly not! I am not a physician and I am not licenced to
diagnose you. I cannot and wouldn't ask you to alter your medications in any way. All
that being said, it is interesting to note some of the tender reflex areas and what part
of the body they correspond to and then see how it compares to the problems (if any)
the client is experiencing.
- Do you heal people- I wish I could take credit for that! I am only an instrument that
helps push the body to start its own healing process. Many people get amazing
results from using Reflexology, help with migraines, headaches, high blood pressure,
allergies, cholesterol problems, arthritis, pain, and many other chronic problems.
- Do I have to be sick or feeling bad to benefit from Reflexology?
Absolutely not! Many clients use Reflexology regularly just to unwind and relax or
"pamper" themselves. Even when clients go to a Reflexologist with certain problems,
once they are feeling better they may continue with Reflexology sessions just as
preventive maintenance.
- What are the benefits of Reflexology?- Reflexology primarily eases stress and
tension, which in turn can improve blood circulation, lymph drainage, assist in the
elimination of toxins, and strengthening of the immune system. It enables the body's
natural healing processes to promote wellness and to help achieve homeostasis.
- Do you use probes or any devices- I use only my hands and maybe a little talcum
powder, making it a safe, simple, yet effective method without the use of gadgets.
Let your fingers do the walking.
- How does Reflexology Work- There are many theories about how Reflexology works, but the most commonly
held belief is that Reflexology acts to relax those reflexes that in turn are connected to various parts of the body,
improving lymphatic drainage and circulation as well as relaxing muscles and stimulating nerve connections.
Reflexology is primarily a relaxation technique, and while research clearly indicates that Reflexology benefits
peoples health in both chronic and other ailments, it is not a substitute for medical treatment, and should be
considered as complementary to any type of medical treatment. Extensive research in Reflexology has validated
the positive effects it has on the body .
It is a truly marvelous structure: each foot contains 26 bones, 19 muscles, 107 ligaments, miles
of blood vessels, and 7200 nerves. That's for each foot! The bones in the feet make up a
quarter of all the bones in the body!
The feet of a person weighing 130 pounds absorb 500 pounds of pressure with every step.
This adds up at the end of a long day. In fact, our feet bear a cumulative weight total of around
2,500 tons a day. Surely our feet, bearing this enormous workload deserve our attentive care
to render this heroic service to us.
People take an average of 10,000 steps in a day, adding up to about 140,000 miles in a
lifetime - enough to go around the planet more than four times.
There are 250,000 sweat glands in a pair of feet. Sweat glands in the feet excrete as much as
half a pint of moisture a day.
Shoes are important to women since they generally average 10 miles a day, outdistancing
men who average only seven miles a day.
Feet are strong enough to support up to four times the body's weight during high impact
activities, yet sensitive enough to detect a grain of sand.
